*Mid Sussex Working Spaniel Club – First Working Test of the Season*

We were delighted to kick off the season with our first working test of the year, held on superb ground kindly provided by our generous landowners. The bracken provided excellent cover, giving us a real pleasure in watching the dogs hunt and work so effectively throughout the day.

A huge thank you goes to our judges, Aubrey Ladyman and Mick Reeder, for giving up their time to assess all the competitors and for putting the dogs through their paces with a variety of tests over cover and retrieves.

The weather was kind to us overall, with fair conditions, light showers, and sunny intervals. This made for an enjoyable day for both competitors and spectators alike. We had a fantastic turnout, with a very high standard of dogs on display, all within a friendly and supportive atmosphere that the club is proud to promote.

We would also like to extend our thanks to:

  • Our hardworking committee for their continued effort throughout the season
  • Julie Martin for providing the fabulous food enjoyed by all
  • All the helpers who contributed to making the day such a success

Finally, we would like to give a very special thank you to Sean Connor for his dedication and hard work as General Secretary. He has been fantastic in this role, and this test marked his last in that position. We are pleased that Sean will now take on the role of Field Trial Secretary, and we welcome Emma Josey as she steps into the position of General Secretary.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the day—we look forward to seeing you all at the Water Test in July!
